Fall is rapidly approaching and now is the time to update your jewelry wardrobe to go with the colors for fall / winter 2009. So, what are the colors for this fall / winter? Hot pink, neon blue, chartreuse, animal prints and of course, blacks, grays and browns and metallics.
So, what do I suggest? For chartreuse, peridot would be a natural choice as would yellow sapphire or yellow beryl. Something that could be quite striking with animal prints, metallics, browns or blacks would be ametrine. If you have never seen ametrine, check them out by clickinghere. They are one of the very few types of stones that naturally occur with two distinct colors (lavender purple and golden yellow) in the same stone. Ametrine is both amethyst and citrine and is a member of the quartz family. It is inexpensive but rare and that makes it amazing. 99% of the commercial production of ametrine comes from one mine in Bolivia, and that should make it expensive, but they are undervalued so they are very, very affordable. It’s not a “new” gemstone it has been around for centuries. The conquistadores who conquered Bolivia introduced ametrine to Europeans.
