Fancy Colors of Sapphire
White sapphire has been used as a diamond substitute for years. Over the last 15+ years, buyers could more easily find yellow, pink, orange, golden, purple and green. There are even color change sapphires that change from amethyst purple in incandescent lighting to blue in sunlight. Buyers can find “rainbow” sapphire jewelry in pastel or vibrant colors. One of the prettiest sapphire rings is a cocktail ring (shown below left) created by my dad, Andrew Sarosi. It could brighten any woman’s evening.

Sapphire Engagement Rings
Blue sapphire engagements rings became very popular in 1981 when Prince Charles became engaged to Lady Diana Spencer and they remain popular to this day. Because sapphire are a 9 on the Mohs scale, they are wonderful in engagement rings. Since sapphires come in so many colors, brides these days can be daring and choose pink or purple or yellow sapphires for their engagement rings if they aren’t fond of blue sapphire.
