Pearl Jewelry – A Wonderful Holiday or Anytime Gift

AfricaGems.com has recently added natural pearl jewelry to our extensive lineup of natural gemstone jewelry.  And what a wonderful addition it has been.

Pearl Jewelry Through Out History
Pearl jewelry has been given as gifts for thousands of years.  In years past, pearl jewelry was a symbol of wealth and status.  One can trace it back to at least 2300 BC in China where pearls were prized by royalty.  The Ancient Romans and Greeks wore pearls as a symbol of wealth and prestige.  The Ancient Greeks felt that pearls brought love.  Many people don’t realize that Native Americans also prized the freshwater pearls they harvested for lakes and rivers.

Pearl jewelry is the probably the perfect introduction to fine jewelry for any young lady.  Pearls do require just a little more care than many other natural gemstones.  For example, a lady should put her moisturizer / hand lotion / hair spray and let it dry before she puts on her pearl jewelry.  And a young lady should never wear her pearl jewelry when she is swimming or doing athletic things.  Pearl jewelry is for dress up.

Pearl rings have also been given as engagement rings for thousands of years.  They can also be given as promise rings.  And elegant more mature women have always prized classic pearl jewelry.  In other words, pearl jewelry is appropriate for ladies of all ages.

Natural Gemstones
Pearls are an organic gemstone and AfricaGems.com carries beautiful pearl rings, necklaces, pendants and earrings. We carry white pearl jewelry as well as beautiful Tahitian cultured pearls, coin pearls (see below left), mabé pearls and more.  Some of our pearl jewelry is set in sterling silver, some in white or yellow gold; some is set with diamonds or colored gemstones but all are top of the line.

But top of the line doesn’t have to mean expensive.  Our pearl necklaces and pendants start at a very affordable $35 for a coin pearl and sterling silver necklace (see left) and go all the way up to $5,775 for a drop dead Tahitian pearl and diamond necklace.  Our rings start $40 for a coin pearl set in sterling silver.   Our pearl earrings (see right above) start at $30.  In other words, something for everyone’s budget.
