People Ask - Should I Buy Jewelry and Gemstones as Investments?

Something that bothers me is when I hear folks on the TV shopping shows say that someone should buy a loose gemstone or ring or pendant as an investment.  True, gemstones and jewelry are not inexpensive purchases.  But they should not be thought of like stocks, bonds, buildings, land or other “investments”.   It would be highly unlikely that the average person could buy a top quality piece of jewelry or a loose gemstone cheaply enough that they could sell it for a profit the next day or the next year.

Rare Gemstones
There are rare pieces of jewelry like the 10.95 fancy vivid natural blue diamond paired with a spectacular 9.87 carat white diamond set in a ring that was purchased in 1971 for $1 million dollars and it is expected to sell in a month or so for around $15 Million.  It is interesting to note that it that it was originally purchased to celebrate an event and not for investment.  But most of us don't have either the $1million or $15 million to spend jewelry.

That is not to say that you wouldn’t be able to sell a gemstone or piece of jewelry you purchased.  People in some cultures actually wear their wealth in jewelry.  They can always sell that 24K gold bracelet for the current price of gold, but whether or not it would be sold at a profit or loss depends on the current gold price and when they originally purchased the bracelet.   And in years gone by, there were many people of the privileged class that fled the current political climate in their country and they sold their jewels in order to survive when they got to their new country.

Gold Gemstone Jewelry and Loose Gemstones
You should be buying a loose gemstone or a piece of gemstone jewelry to celebrate something, even if it is to celebrate “just because.”    Or purchase it strictly because it is a beautiful work of art.  Most clients buy from AfricaGems.com because they appreciate beautiful top quality gemstones and gemstone jewelry that they can purchase at our wholesale prices.   You should be purchasing the best quality you can afford so you can pass your purchases down to the next generations of your family.  That is how your "investment" will pay off many times over.

AfraicGems.com is proud to offer a wide selection of loose natural gemstones like sapphire, ruby, emerald, opals, diamonds, and more -  gemstones from a (alexandrite) to z (zircon).  And we carry a wide range of gemstone rings and pendants for your selection.   And all backed by our Guarantee Pledge and free shipping.
