The extremely rare Umbalite garnet is a purplish-pink rhodolite and was discovered in 1978 in Tanzania’s Umba Valley and only found in the Umba Valley. Like the Rhodolite garnet it is a cross between an almandine and pyrope garnet but with a little spessartite added. Mother Nature made rhodolite garnets so beautiful they remind you of things like raspberry ice cream or raspberries or grape jelly. Yummy enough to eat, but please don’t.
